Celebrating Maui a Kama with Chocolate, Hula and Mo‘olelo
Renowned Kumu Hula Hōkūlani Holt at Maui Kuʻia Estate Chocolate join together on Saturday, Dec. 11, for a fundraiser for Kū Mai Ka Hula.
The day’s highlights include a gourmet bento by Maca Dang Dang by Chef Joey Maca Dang Dang, chocolate tasting by MKEC founder Gunars Valkirs, and mo‘olelo and hula by Kumu Hula Holt and Hālau Pā‘ū O Hi‘iaka, with music by Kaleo Phillips.
Attendees can choose the Matinee Pā‘ina from 1-3 p.m. for $100, or the Sunset Pā‘ina from 5-7 p.m. for $150.
Kū Mai Ka Hula is Maui’s only adult hula competition, featuring award-winning hālau competing in solo and group performances, and celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2022.
Through MKEC’s Chocolate Laulima Program, Kū Mai Ka Hula receives 40% of designated chocolate sales. Funds raised directly support the 2022 competition.
