Four Maui Pops Orchestra Events on Tap at the Castle Theater

An orchestra dedicated to presenting both light classical and contemporary pops music on Maui is several events to round out the old year and kick off the new one.

This includes: Holiday Pops on Dec. 12, 2021; Broadway Pops on Jan. 23, 2022; Winter Pops on Feb. 20, 2022; and Spring Pops on March 13, 2022. All four events take place at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater.

Maui Pops Orchestra – Holiday Pops

Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, 3 p.m., Castle Theater

A long delayed favorite returns for the holiday season with the Maui Pops popular Holiday Pops concert. This year, the Pops’ featured guest vocalist is Dee Roscioli. With numerous Broadway and concert stage credits, Roscioli will include in her program holiday favorites including Winter Wonderland, It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, My Favorite Things and much more. Pops Music Director James Durham will conduct the Maui Pops Orchestra in their long-awaited return to the Castle Theater before a live audience.

Maui Pops Orchestra – Broadway Pops

Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, 3 p.m., Castle Theater

Maui Pops Orchestra’s Broadway Pops concert, conducted by Music Director James Durham, features the vocal talents of Morgan James and Ben Davis, both with extensive Broadway and concert stage credits. Morgan James is a classically vocalist, Broadway veteran and recording artist. She has appeared in Motown: The Musical, Godspell, and The Addams Family. Ben Davis is a versatile singing actor who has multiple television and stage appearances with the latter including Les Misérables, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and A Little Night Music on Broadway. They join Music Director James Durham and the Maui Pops Orchestra in a celebration of familiar and family-friendly music from Broadway and beyond.

Maui Pops Orchestra – Winter Pops

Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, 3 p.m., Castle Theater

The Winter Pops concert, conducted by Music Director James Durham, will feature an afternoon of music with Jeff Peterson, an award-winning Hawaiian slack key guitar player. Included in the program will be the Maui premiere of Jeff’s Concerto for Slack Key Guitar and Orchestra, Mālama ʻĀina.

Sunday, March 13, 2022, 3 p.m., Castle Theater

Sarah Uriarte Berry returns to the Maui Pops Orchestra stage to provide an afternoon performance that is a tribute to Judy Garland & Friends. Sarah is an accomplished actress and musical theatre performer who has many stage credits include roles in Les Misérables, The Light in the Piazza, Beauty and the Beast, and many others. She has starred in five Broadway shows and three national tours. Pops audience members may recall that Sarah appeared with the Orchestra in January 2020 as a last-minute substitute and made quite a lasting impression.

Ticketing Information:

Those purchasing tickets for all four of this season’s Maui Pops concerts are eligible for a discount if tickets are purchased together and prior to the Dec. 12 concert. Discount excludes the $22 tickets.

Without a discount, tickets for each concert are $60, $50, $35 and $22 (plus applicable fees). Students 18 and under with an ID pay half-price (except for $22 tickets).
