Mālama Maui Nui Seeks Submissions for Art of Trash Exhibition & Trashion Show

Mālama Maui Nui is accepting submissions for its “The Art of Trash Exhibition and Trashion Show” slated to open on April 2022.

Submissions are accepted until Feb. 1, 2022.

“The Art of Trash Exhibition and Trashion Shows are annual, juried events that inspire community members to re-imagine our resources, such as previously used materials, as elements for creative inspiration. All pieces are original work made from recycled and/or reused material.”

Residents of Maui Nui are invited to create art pieces for the exhibition and/or fashion pieces for the Trashion Show.

Participants can submit multiple pieces for both the Exhibition and the Trashion Show on the Mālama Maui Nui website – where a sample of the submission form and a list of requirements for submission are also posted.

All pieces must be made from recycled and/or reused material. Natural items such as driftwood, shells, food, etc. are not allowed.

Jurors will be looking for the transformation of material, good craftsmanship and overall creativity.

If a piece gets selected, it will be featured in The Art of Trash and/or Trashion Show in April 2022.

Prizes will be awarded to winners of the Juror’s Choice Awards and Community Choice Awards.
