UPDATE: Downed Utility Pole Results in Closure of Hāna Hwy at Mile 47-48 in Puʻuiki

Update: Dec. 14, 2021, 10:10 p.m.

As of 10:08 p.m., Hāna Highway is OPEN in the area of Mile 47-48 at Puʻuiki in East Maui.  A fallen utility pole forced the closure of the Highway on Tuesday morning, Dec. 14. Crews will return on Wednesday, Dec. 15, to finish repairs. At this time, it is uncertain crews will need to close the road again.

The Hāna Highway is closed between Mile 47 and 48 due to a utility pole blocking both lanes of the roadway in the Puʻuiki area of East Maui.

Maui police advise motorists to avoid the area.

The road was closed as of around 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021.
