Goodfellow Bros. gives $136,000 to nonprofits in Hawaiʻi and three other states

Goodfellow Bros. concluded its year-long 2021 centennial celebration by donating a total of $136,000 to 25 nonprofit organizations based in Hawaiʻi, Washington, California and Oregon.

When Goodfellow Bros. initially announced its centennial charity grant program in February 2021, it committed to giving away one $50,000 grant to a single charitable organization operating within a community the company serves. “After receiving nearly 200 applications and reading so many compelling stories,” the company reports that it made the decision to increase its overall donation to accommodate more charities and to spread it among 25 nonprofit organizations across the four states it serves.

“People are the core of our business, so this was a perfect way to mark our 100-year anniversary and give back to so many organizations and causes supporting the communities in which we live and work,” said Goodfellow.

The list of grant recipients ranges from educational programs and healthcare initiatives to environmental conservation projects and food banks.

“This generous grant from Goodfellow Bros. will help us continue to serve the growing number of Hawaiʻi’s community members who are facing food insecurity,” said Jennine Sullivan, Executive Director at The Pantry, based in Honolulu and the only eCommerce food distribution in the state. “The funds we received will help ensure we have the bandwidth to keep pace with Oʻahu’s skyrocketing demand for fresh, diverse, nutritious food during this unprecedented time in history. With Goodfellow Bros. support, we can continue to be the lifeline to our community, offering food insecure families access to a weekly food safety net year-round, so they are no longer forced to make the heartbreaking decision on choosing between food and other essentials just to survive.”
