Newly appointed Rep. Tyson Miyake of Maui to serve on three House committees
Newly appointed State House Representative, Tyson Miyake of Maui will serve on three house committees during the upcoming legislative session.
Speaker Scott K. Saiki announced updated committee appointments saying Rep. Miyake will serve on the Housing, Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs, and Transportation committees.
Miyake fills the vacancy created by the movement of Troy Hashimoto to the State Senate. Hashimoto filled the spot created by the retirement/resignation of Senator Gil Keith-Agaran.
“I am thankful to our Representatives for assuming new committee responsibilities amid a vacancy. I am confident that the upcoming 2024 legislative session will be highly productive,” said Speaker Scott K. Saiki.
In addition to Rep. Miyake’s appointments, two other representatives fill vacancies on House committees:
Representative Lisa Marten will serve as Chair of House Committee on Human Services; and as a member of the House committees on Education, Health & Homelessness and Higher Education & Technology
Representative Trish La Chica will serve as Vice Chair of House Committee on Education.
A comprehensive list of all standing committee leadership roles and members will be finalized this month. For more information on House committees, visit http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov.
