Paddle Imua concludes its 13th Annual Race

The 13^th Annual Paddle Imua crowned its champions this Sunday, July 14 following a race down the famed Maliko Run off the north shore of Maui. Paddle Imua is a multi-discipline paddling race which, in the spirit of the Hawaiian word “Imua” (meaning ‘to move forward’), aims to raise funds for Imua Family Services’ Camp Imua program – a 48-year Maui tradition which provides a week-long recreational summer camp experience for children with special needs. 

Participants in this year’s Paddle Imua took to the water in a wide range of craft, including OC1, OC2, OC6, stand-up paddle (SUP), prone paddleboard, surf ski, SUP foil, kiting, windsurfing, prone foil, and wing foil.

The race concluded at Kanahā Beach Park with the event’s annual ʻOhana Festival featuring live music, delicious food & beverages, and a fun ocean relay where campers, ocean athletes and friends from Pāʻia Youth & Cultural Center teamed up to conquer the waves. Free activities for children, including lei making and Grom Camp, were also greatly enjoyed by families following the race.
