Credit Unions of Maui raise $38K at annual golf tournament to benefit Hospice Maui
The Credit Unions of Maui recently lauded their 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, held on Aug. 10 at The Dunes at Maui Lani. This year’s event brought together 144 golfers and community supporters, resulting in $38,000 raised to benefit Hospice Maui, a local nonprofit dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life care for Maui residents.
The funds raised will directly support Hospice Maui’s mission to offer comprehensive hospice and palliative care, including medical services, emotional support, and grief counseling, to individuals and families in need.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who participated in and supported our Annual Charity Golf Tournament,” said this year’s tournament co-chair Kyle Williamson, vice president of lending, Valley Isle Community Federal Credit Union.
This year’s tournament exceeded expectations, says the Maui County FCU. Participants enjoyed a day of friendly competition, prizes and philanthropy.
“The generosity and community spirit shown by participating golfers, sponsors, and volunteers have made a significant impact on Hospice Maui’s ability to continue providing essential services to our island’s residents during their most difficult times,” said tournament co-chair Kelly Tobita, CEO and president of Maui Teachers FCU.
The CEO of Hospice Maui expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support. “The funds raised by the Credit Unions of Maui will help ensure that we can continue to offer high-quality, compassionate care to those facing life-limiting illnesses,” said Hospice Maui CEO Melanie Dwyer. “We are deeply thankful for this generous contribution and the ongoing support of our community.”
Since 2014, Kahului FCU, Maui FCU, Maui County FCU, Maui Teachers FCU, Valley Isle FCU and Wailuku FCU have joined together to organize this annual golf tournament to support local healthcare organizations. They have raised over $266,000 to improve the health and well-being of individuals statewide.
