Lava’s Sportsbar & Karaoke benefit raises $6,410 for Maui Economic Opportunity

Lava’s Sportsbar & Karaoke in Wailuku celebrated its 5-year anniversary Sunday and raised $6,410 for Maui Economic Opportunity from a BBQ Plate Fundraiser as part of the celebration.

Owner Jin Stisher and Head Bartender Hannah Villegas presented the check to CEO Debbie Cabebe on Monday at MEO in Wailuku.

MEO Being Empowered and Safe Together (BEST) specialist Ron Cremer Jr. and Jin are good friends, and Ron helps out at the bar as needed. Lava’s is located at 1088 Lower Main St.

The hefty plate lunch, which went for $20, included steak, pork steak, barbecue chicken, Portuguese sausage, rice, mac salad and corn. The plates were available Sunday afternoon.

“MEO is honored to be the beneficiary of Lava’s 5-year anniversary benefit,” said Debbie. “We spread the word among staff and board members to enjoy the delicious plate lunch and support the agency.
