The Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority introduced its newest team members, including: Kui Adolpho, and Meagan Degaia, Destination Managers for Molokaʻi and Maui/Lānaʻi respectively.

Born and raised in Hawaiʻi, Adolpho is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools – Kapālama and has lived on her family homestead on Molokaʻi for the past 15 years. She’s been married just as long and is a mom to three keiki.

Over the past 10 years, Adolpho has been deeply involved in community work and engagement on Molokaʻi, grounded in a commitment to uplifting local voices and strengthening the island’s future.

As the Destination Manager – Molokaʻi, she will focus on supporting regenerative tourism efforts that align with the values and wellbeing of the community. Her goal is to help shape a visitor experience that respects the land, culture, and people—ensuring that tourism benefits, rather than burdens, her island home.

Meagan DeGaia graduated cum laude with a degree in Conservation and a minor in Women’s Studies from George Mason University in northern Virginia. With a conservation and community engagement background, she has been dedicated to regenerative tourism since 2017.

As the founder of both a regenerative tourism business and nonprofit, DeGaia is passionate about tourism being a vehicle for cultural restoration and has “seen first-hand how tourism can radiate wealth into local communities while providing culturally immersive experiences for visitors.”

In her capacity as the Destination Manager – Maui and Lānaʻi, DeGaia is actively involved in developing the second iteration of the Destination Management Action Plans—community-driven plans to reset, rebuild, and redefine the future of tourism throughout Hawaiʻi.

Recognizing that Destination Management is deep work, DeGaia said she is humbled and grateful for the opportunity to work closely within the Maui and Lānaʻi community to “build bridges and foundations that will ensure tourism gives back more than it takes.”

“Like a beautiful lei, each person adds their color and charm to our collective efforts to promote the vibrancy of our island home and protect what makes it a great place to live and visit,” said Caroline Anderson, Interim President and CEO in an email announcement.
