Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea has opened applications for its 2025 START: A Student Artist Immersion, a mentorship program designed to support emerging high school artists on Maui. Now in its third year, the program will select two local juniors or seniors to receive mentorship, showcase opportunities and a $3,000 scholarship to support their post-graduation art education.

Applications are open through May 31. Selected students will be announced June 10.

Developed in partnership with Hawaiʻi Contemporary Executive Director and Four Seasons Resort Maui Art Consultant Rosina Potter, START offers students the chance to display their work at the resort’s Artists Showcase, receive individualized guidance from professional artists, and engage in one-on-one mentorship sessions. Participants will also have lunch with their mentor at the resort’s Ferraro’s restaurant or visit the mentor’s studio, if applicable.

“The START program champions Maui’s young creatives and highlights how vital arts education is for students planning their futures,” Potter said. “Previous recipients have used START as a springboard to pursue art majors, secure gallery representation and embrace their artistic identities with newfound confidence.”

To apply, students must email the following to start.maui@fourseasons.com by May 31:

  • Five completed artworks in .jpg or .pdf format
  • A brief artist statement for each piece
  • A short essay (under 500 words) about their interest in pursuing art after high school
  • Their availability for spring evening and weekend art showcases at the resort

Selected students will receive a weekly exhibition spot for three weeks during summer 2025 and work with a mentor whose artistic style or medium complements their own.
