The Maui Arts & Cultural Center presents singer/songwriter Justin Kawika Young in a MACC “Local Voices” concert in the McCoy Studio Theater Thursday, June 19 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale online only to MACC members on May 8, and to the general public May 9.

Born and raised in Hawaiʻi, Young first found success in his island home. He accumulated 11 number-one hits on Hawaiʻi radio before relocating to Los Angeles. He quickly established a following in the local music scene there and connected with other singer/songwriters including Colbie Caillat, eventually joining her band.

Young toured with Caillat as her acoustic guitarist/background vocalist and co-wrote two songs on Caillat’s “All Of You” album. In 2019 Justin and Caillat formed a band in Nashville with two friends called Gone West. They debuted at The Grand Ole Opry in October of 2019 and their first single, “What Could Have Been,” hit the top 25 at Country radio.

In 2022, Young joined the band of country star, Brett Young, who he toured with for two years. While touring with Colbie Caillat and Brett Young fueled his passion, Justin Kawika Young recently set out on a new path. He is a member of Seven Suns, a band that is composed of seven of Hawaiʻi’s top musicians, but more importantly, all close friends of his.

Justin is also a member of the band Seven Suns which was just nominated for eight awards in seven categories for this year’s Nā Hōkū Hanohano awards.

In keeping with the MACC’s dedication to supporting the victims of the wildfires, patrons for this concert are asked to bring non-perishable items for the Maui Food Bank. Ticket holders who bring donations will have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win an autographed poster and a post-show meet & greet with Justin Kawika Young.
