Free carpentry classes for high school students at UH Maui College
The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College is offering a series of FREE, week-long trainings designed to help participants master essential carpentry skills while building sheds to be donated to folks in Lahaina recovering from the wildfires.
Professional instructors teach proper use of professional tools and equipment, framing, roofing, siding, quality control and industry standards and more. No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
Trainings that are open to all begin on Monday, May 19 and Monday, June 9.
- Training for UHMC employees ONLY begins on Monday, June 2.
- Trainings EXCLUSIVELY for high school students begin on: Monday, June 16; Monday, June 23; Monday, July 7; and Monday, July 14. Classes meet at the Carpentry shop on the UHMC Campus, Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
