The celebration of arts, culture, and community will begin with a private blessing that will serve as the opening ceremony on June 9 at Lahaina Intermediate School.
Murals will begin to be painted at Lahaina Intermediate following the opening ceremony. Maui artists like Ninja Sketch, Bailey Onaga, Roxy Ortiz of Wooden Wave, Kaelyn Sachiko Okuhata, and Kirk Kurokawa, along with visiting artists such as Punky Aloha, Jack Soren, and Melon James, will paint 17 murals that will transform the school’s walls into a living testament to the strength and creativity of the Lahaina community.
Maui-born artists Matt Agcolicol and Roxy Ortiz will be leading the students of Lahaina Intermediate in a restoration effort that will see them employing storytelling through symbolism inspired by the ancient Hawaiian practice of ‘Ohe Kapala.
Agcolicol spoke about leading the students in the ʻOhana Art sessions: “We are translating what we were taught,” he said. “We’re asking the students, how do we continue the story through the stencil-based form of art they’ll be using? The goal is to restore the concrete benches at the school, but also to pass on the tradition of storytelling through symbols.”
The students will be joining Ortiz and Agcolicol June 10-12 to take part in this storytelling-through-art experience.
A special HIFF (Hawaiʻi International Film Festival) screening of eight short films will be hosted by Fuzz Box Productions in the evening of June 11 at 5 p.m. HIFF will be screening shorts from a diverse range of Maui-based filmmakers including “The Queen’s Flowers” by Ciara Leinaʻala Lacy and “Kūkini” by Mitchel Merrick.
Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winning Hawai‘i-based music group “The Brewz” will be holding a workshop titled “Navigating the Music Landscape: You Don’t Have to Play Music to Understand Music Business” the evening of June 10 at Fuzz Box as well.
Muralists Lauryn Gordines and Roxy and Matt Ortiz of “Wooden Wave” will also lead a free Adobe workshop at Fuzz Box on the evening of June 12. The workshop will demonstrate how Adobe can revolutionize marketing and social media strategies for local entrepreneurs, social media marketers, and small businesses alike. Attendees will learn the fundamentals of how to build consistent branding across all platforms using professionally designed assets. No prior experience with Adobe platforms is required for this session.

A breakfast talk series known as CreativeMornings, which has monthly events in Honolulu, will host a special event at Fuzz Box on Friday, June 13 at 8:30 a.m. CreativeMornings is a worldwide creative community with 248 chapters across 70 countries. These free events serve as gathering places for locals, artists, entrepreneurs, and creatives to meet and learn from one another and from the speakers featured at each event.
Since the creation of the Honolulu chapter, 41 CreativeMornings events have taken place on Oʻahu. This will be the first to be hosted on the island of Maui. Edwin Ushiro will be the featured speaker for this event. Tickets will be available online the morning of the opening ceremony. While tickets are free, guests are encouraged to register due to limited capacity.
Hawaiʻi’s favorite urban market, Art + Flea, will continue their outer island expansion by closing the week with an event featuring 20+ local artists and vendors like Maui Mood Swing, Alexander Thunders, and live caricature sketches by Ninja Sketch. The Wrap Party is open to the general public for free and will be held at Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows. The celebration will feature live music from DJ Max High, Anthony Pluke, and headlined by Nuff Sedd.

Ahead of this year’s festival on Maui, donors and sponsors are welcome to join in making a more profound impact. Support will provide vital resources for artists, expand dynamic programming, and create meaningful opportunities for the Lahaina community.
