First-ever Beauty Operator Program begins next month at UH Maui College
For the first time ever, the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College is offering Esthetician, Nail Technician, and Lash Extension and Enhancement courses as parts of a new Beauty Operator Program.
“This is another example of our commitment to creating real-world experiences for students to learn skills needed in the community,” said UHMC Chancellor Lui Hokoana. “Students will also gain the confidence they need to succeed in the beauty industry.”
The instructor is Reese Yap. Born and raised on Oʻahu, she has been a member of Maui’s beauty industry for 16 years. She progressed from an apprentice to a licensed educator, business owner, and mentor. “I’m now ready to share the wisdom I’ve gained with the next generation,” said Yap. “I saw a need in our community – a desire for affordable, hands-on beauty education rooted in real opportunity. With the support of UH Maui College, we’ve created a program that is more than just training. It’s a chance to transform lives, empower futures, and grow a strong beauty community right here at home,” said Yap.
