Report: Gas prices slightly drop ahead of summer travel, per AAA Hawaiʻi

The AAA Hawaiʻi Weekend Gas Watch reports that gas prices dropped slightly in the last week, following a nationwide trend.

The statewide average price for regular unleaded is $4.47, which is one cent less than last week. The average national price is $3.14, which is two cents lower than last week and 36 cents less than a year ago.

As of 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, the average price for regular unleaded gas in Kahului was $4.47, which was two cents lower than last week and 31 cents lower than a year ago.

The average price in Honolulu was $4.39, which was the same as last week and 25 cents lower than a year ago. Līhuʻe’s average regular price is $5.04, once cent lower than last week and 20 cents lower than a year ago.

“Fuel prices continue to hold steady, showing minimal variation in select regions, “said Liane Sumida, general manager of AAA Hawaiʻi. AAA members can take advantage of discounted gas prices at participating Shell gas stations by joining the Shell Fuel Rewards program.
