Outrigger Resorts swap fireworks for aerial ‘flowerworks’ this Fourth of July

Outrigger Resorts & Hotels has announced it will offer an alternative to traditional Fourth of July fireworks, with a new “Flowerworks” event set to take place across three of its oceanfront Properties in Hawaiʻi. The aerial celebrations will feature Blue Hawaiian Helicopters dropping fresh, locally sourced flower petals over Outrigger resorts in Kona, Kā‘anapali and Kaua‘i on Friday, July 4.

The petal drops will be accompanied by island-inspired festivities including lei-making workshops and family-friendly activities. The event is free for resort guests and open to the public where noted.

“OUTRIGGER’s ‘Flowerworks’ experiences are designed to bring our guests together with intention, joy and aloha,” said Venus Bravo Yi, area director of marketing at Outrigger Resorts & Hotels. “We are proud to host a reimagined tradition for Fourth of July celebrations that is inclusive for all.”

Outrigger Kā‘anapali Beach Resort

  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Summer Fun with BBQ, keiki activities, and vendor fair
  • 2 p.m.: Flowerworks
  • Performances: Nā Aliʻi Band from King Kekaulike High School and the Maui Community Band
  • 3 to 5 p.m.: Happy hour at Maui Brewing Co.

Outrigger Kaua‘i Beach Resort & Spa

  • 9:30 a.m.: Flowerworks
  • 10 a.m.: Lei workshop with Kumu Hula Maka Herrod
  • 2 p.m.: Hula lessons
  • 4:30 p.m.: E Komo Mai welcome reception with live music
  • 3 to 7 p.m.: Kaua‘i Made Craft Fair
  • Happy hours: Driftwood Bar & Grille (3 to 4 p.m.), Shutters Lounge (5 to 6 p.m. and 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.)

Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa

  • 9:30 a.m.: Flowerworks
  • 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.: Lei-making workshops
  • Noon: Beginner hula class
  • 3 p.m.: ʻUkulele lesson
  • 6 p.m.: Live music at PIKO
