All scream for ice cream: ‘Wildly popular’ Backdoor Bakeshop is back
Cool! Sweet! Take your pick at the wildly popular Backdoor Bakeshop at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College this Friday, June 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. — or, until sold out at the Pā‘ina Building.
“We are in the midst of advanced baking summer classes and the Backdoor Bakeshop gives us an outlet for our products and also gives the students that retail bakery experience,” said pastry chef/instructor Hannah Stanchfield.
Check out the mouth-watering menu:
- Ice Cream: Vanilla Bean French Ice Cream, Macadamia Nut, Rocky Road to Hāna
- Sorbet: Passionfruit, Granny Smith Apple & Fennel, Lime, Raspberry, Espresso Granita
- Gelato: Basil, Strawberry, Pistachio
- Ice Cream Scoops: $2 each, includes two free toppings, 25 cents for each additional topping (macadamia nuts, toasted coconut, sprinkles, chocolate sauce, fruit sauce, whipped cream)
- Ice Cream Pints: $7 each
- Ice Cream Sandwiches: $5 each, any of the available flavors of ice cream sandwiched between chocolate or vanilla shortbread cookies
- Mini Frozen Mousse Cakes: $12 – $15 each
The young pastry chefs recommend bringing a cooler, ice chest or insulated bag for their cold culinary creations. And, if you want your favorite flavors, come early. Duh!
