Two Maui men injured in alleged assault in Māʻalaea
Two men suffered injuries in an alleged assault reported early Saturday morning in Māʻalaea, police said. The incident was reported at around 4:20 a.m. on June 14.
The victims, a 24-year-old Kīhei man and a 62-year-old Lahaina man were allegedly assaulted by a group of three to four unknown males near Slip 22 at Māʻalaea Boat Harbor.
During the assault, both victims were repeatedly punched and kicked in the head and body, resulting in various injuries, according to police.
One victim refused medical attention at the scene, while the second victim later sought medical treatment on his own.
The incident is being investigated as a second degree assault.
The Maui Police Department is actively investigating the incident and is asking for assistance from the public.
