Kamaʻole Beach Park II, including restrooms, reopened today, Aug. 11, 2026, along with the adjacent section of South Kīhei Road that closed after damages from a Kona Low storm in March, according to the County Department of Parks and Recreation.

Sections of the park remain barricaded to protect sensitive hydromulching work that promotes regrowing grass and native plants. Pedestrians are asked to avoid closed areas.

“We are grateful to the Department of Public Works and the contractors for their thorough and efficient efforts, which allowed the project to be completed ahead of schedule and Kamaʻole Beach Park II to reopen as well,” DPR Deputy Director Shane Dudoit said. “After hydromulching in a few areas, parts of the park are barricaded, and we are asking people to stay away from those sections.”
