Temporary closures planned for County Parks and Recreation facilities

The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation announced the following temporary facility closures:
- A section of Baldwin Beach Park, which is traditionally known as Kapukaʻulua, will be closed for tree stump removal in the cove area on Wednesday, Aug. 26, and Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026, weather permitting. The project is being conducted in coordination with the University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program, which will be on site to oversee the work. Access to the work area will be restricted to ensure public safety. The rest of the beach and park will remain open while work is underway. - Coach Soichi Sakamoto Pool in Wailuku will close from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026, for pool guard recruitment testing. The facility at 700 Halia Nakoa St. is expected to reopen from noon to 4 p.m. that day for lap and recreational swimming. For updates on pool hours, call the County pool hotline at 808-270-8208.
