Hiker airlifted from Twin Falls in Hoʻolawa Valley after suffering injury in fall

A male hiker was airlifted from Twin Falls in Hoʻolawa Valley after falling and suffering an ankle injury. The incident occurred at 12:23 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026 at one of the ponds above the falls.

Rescue 10 firefighters aboard Air 1 located the patient and after stabilizing his injuries, lifted him aboard Air 1. He was transferred to a waiting Emergency Medical Services unit at a landing zone near Hāna Highway for transport to the Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Responding units included: Engine 2 and Rescue 10 aboard Air 1.

Emergency crews concluded their response at 1:58 p.m.
