Kimya Nguyen

Pacific Permanente Group welcomes Kimya Nguyen, DO, to its gastroenterology team, expanding access to specialized digestive health care for patients across Maui. As PPG continues to enhance specialty care for the people of Maui, Dr. Nguyen’s addition further strengthens the organization’s commitment to providing high-quality, comprehensive gastroenterology care.

Nguyen is a board-certified gastroenterologist with expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of digestive disorders. She earned her medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan and completed her internal medicine residency at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  She went on to complete a gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, where she also pursued advanced training in clinical and translational research.

Bringing extensive clinical expertise in gastroenterology to Maui, Dr. Nguyen has held leadership and physician roles in Hawai’i and the PacificNorthwest. Most recently, she served as a gastroenterologist with the Veteran Affairs Pacific Islands Health Care System and as a gastroenterology hospitalist and Medical Director of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Services at Providence Milwaukie Hospital in Oregon. Throughout her career, she has also contributed to advances in gastroenterology through her involvement in professional societies and publications.

“Dr. Nguyen’s breadth of clinical experience, academic accomplishments, and commitment to compassionate care make her an outstanding addition to our physician team,” said Chris Martin, MD, assistant area medical director of Pacific Permanente Group. “She will play an important role in expanding access to high-quality gastroenterology services for patients on Maui.”

Nguyen expands PPG’s growing network of specialists, which includes inpatient behavioral health, cardiology and interventional cardiology, critical care medicine, gastroenterology, internal medicine, inpatient neurology, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology. She provides both inpatient and outpatient care at Maui Memorial Medical Center and the Maui Memorial Medical Center Outpatient Clinic.

“It’s a privilege to join Pacific Permanente Group and serve the Maui community,” said Dr. Nguyen. “PPG has built a strong gastroenterology team that’s deeply committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care, and I’m excited to contribute to that mission. I look forward to partnering with my colleagues to help more patients receive the specialty care they need close to home.”
