Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity to speak at Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset meeting, Sept. 1

The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset welcomes Kayla McHone as its guest speaker at an upcoming meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026. The topic of her presentation will be “Habitat Maui: Building Homes, Building Hope.”
Habitat for Humanity Maui is transforming lives by creating safe, affordable, and permanent homes for local families. In this presentation, she will share the powerful stories of our partner families, explore our current building projects, progress on the rebuild, and show how a safe foundation strengthens our entire community. She will also share how members of the public can get involved through volunteering, donating, or advocating for local housing solutions.
McHone is the Director of Programs at Habitat Maui. She grew up in Kansas, and worked in the dental field there for many years. In 2018 she returned to college to earn her bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership, with the goal of working in the non-profit sector. After graduating from Fort Hays State University in December 2019, she moved to Maui in January 2020. Living and working on Maui, she observed the critical need for stable, affordable housing every day. She joined Habitat for Humanity Maui in 2025.
The meeting will be held at the YMCA West Side Resource Center, located in the old Tamura’s building in Emerald Plaza. The address is 226 Kupuohi Street, Lahaina, 96761. The social period will begin at 5 p.m.; light snacks are available for purchase. The formal meeting program is scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. To attend this meeting email Club Service Chair Laura Stanton at lstanton127@outlook.com.
