Van destroyed in fire along Honoapiʻilani Highway

A van was destroyed by fire during an incident reported Tuesday morning along the Honoapiʻilani Highway in Olowalu. The incident was reported at 6:38 a.m. on Sept. 1, 2026 in the area known as “Cut Mountain.”

Firefighters arrived to find the van fully involved with fire, and spreading into the adjacent brush.  Crews quickly stopped the fire’s spread, which burned a 30-by-50-foot area of brush.

The fire was brought under control at 6:51 a.m, and extinguished at 6:56 a.m. The cause of the fire was undetermined. No one was displaced and no one was injured.

Units responding to the incident included Engine 3, Ladder 3 and Tanker 3.
