Maui Humane Society searches for forever home for Bianca as she marks one year at the shelter

Maui Humane Society is issuing a plea to the community to help find a loving home for Bianca, a 4-year-old German Pinscher/Doberman mix who has officially reached her one-year anniversary at the shelter.

First brought to MHS as a severely underweight stray from Hāna Highway in late July 2025, Bianca’s journey over the past 365 days has been one of remarkable transformation, according to MHS.

“She has grown into a healthy, affectionate, and cuddly 60-pound companion. While shelter staff and dedicated volunteers have showered her with love, treats, and outings, Bianca is more than ready for the ultimate upgrade: a cozy home and a family to call her own,” organizers said.

“Despite experiencing kennel stress in the loud shelter environment, Bianca thrives whenever she gets out on the town,” according to MHS.

Through MHS’s “Beach Buddies” program, volunteers frequently take her out for day trips. “She loves sprawling out in the backseat during car rides, rolling around in the sand at the beach, taking gentle naps under tables at local spots like Maui Brewing Company and Pāʻia Bay Coffee, and charming everyone she meets with her sweet, gentle treat-taking manner,” according to MHS.

Bianca’s ideal home & profile:

• Affectionate and loyal: A massive lovebug who adores human company, loves giving kisses, and wants nothing more than to snuggle next to you on the couch or bed.
• Well-mannered: Housebroken, crate-trained, walks nicely on a loose leash, and knows commands like “sit” and “shake”.
• Great with people: Highly people-friendly, gentle with treats, and does wonderfully with adults and children of all ages.
• Solo pet preferred: Due to a strong prey drive, she cannot live with cats, chickens, or small animals. She prefers to be the only dog in the home so she can soak up all the attention herself.
• Safe environment: A clever, athletic girl who requires a secure, supervised yard (no unattended fence time).

“Bianca has been waiting patiently for a whole year to give her entire heart to a family,” the team at Maui Humane Society said. “She is the ultimate cuddle buddy, a total joy on day trips, and deserves a quiet, cozy place to rest her head.”
