The Vote Uncle Bobby team invites the community to celebrate Maui County Council candidate, Bobby Pahia’s birthday with an evening of local food, music, culture and connection on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 5 p.m. at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku.

Bobby Pahia’s Birthday Bash will bring together friends, families, supporters, and neighbors for a celebration of ʻāina, ʻohana, and the everyday things that make for a strong quality of life on Maui: time with loved ones, access to good local food, meaningful community connections, cultural celebration, and spaces where keiki, kūpuna, and working families can gather, according to his campaign.

As the campaign enters its final six weeks before Election Day on Nov. 3, the event offers an opportunity to recharge, celebrate Maui’s people and traditions, and build momentum around a shared vision for a county where local families can thrive, according to the announcement.

“Quality of life means more than just getting by,” said Pahia. “It means having time with our ʻohana, places for our keiki and kūpuna to feel welcome, food thatʻs grown here, opportunities for local people to stay and succeed here, and a community that takes care of one another and our ʻāina. This celebration is about bringing people together around that vision.”

Food and refreshments

The evening’s menu will feature local favorites and kalo-forward dishes:

• Starters: Poi from Hawaiʻi Taro Farm, maki sushi from Miyako Sushi and ahi poke
• Dinner: Maui beef and kalo chili with rice, plus a mahiʻai shepherd’s pie made with kalo, prepared by Café Waʻa with vegetarian versions of each dish.
• Dessert: Kulolo sundaes featuring Uncle Mahi’s Kulolo and Roselani ice cream
• Drinks: Fresh Mamaki Tea, Kava, and canned drinks.

Entertainment and activities

Guests will enjoy music from DJ Z and Leimana Purdy, along with special performances by the Mabuhay Dance Troupe and the ILWU Maui Seniors Dance Troupe.

The celebration will also include:

• A free interactive photo booth and keiki corner
• Native plant education by Helewai Eco Tours & Native Nursery
