Hawaiian Electric monitoring approaching storm, supporting power restoration on Kauaʻi

Hawaiian Electric is monitoring the potential development of another tropical storm that may threaten the state while also continuing to support the Kauaʻi Island Utility Cooperative’s (KIUC) efforts to restore electric service on Kauaʻi.

Hawaiian Electric reports it is closely monitoring forecasts and preparing to activate its emergency response procedures to respond to any storm impacts. Customers are urged to review their own preparations, ensure they have supplies they need on hand and to closely monitor weather updates.

With restoration on Kauaʻi in its final stages, Hawaiian Electric is preparing to return crews, equipment and vehicles to Oʻahu, Maui and Hawaiʻi island, starting on Wednesday and continuing through Friday. More information about the restoration process can be found on KIUC’s website.
