No tsunami threat reported after 6.6 magnitude earthquake in Loyalty Islands off of New Caledonia

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports a magnitude 6.6-magnitude earthquake occurred at 11:13 a.m. Hawaiʻi time near the Loyalty Islands, located east of New Caledonia and Australia. The earthquake’s strength was revised downward from the initial report of a magnitude 7.0 temblor.
The warning center confirmed there’s no tsunami threat to the state of Hawaiʻi.
The public will be informed if conditions change.
