Maui Fire Department conducting rescue training in ʻĪao through October

The Maui County Department of Fire and Public Safety will be conducting rescue training in Wailuku River at ʻĪao Valley State Monument. The training will take place Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the entire month of October.

During the times training is taking place, the public may see fire apparatus, firefighters in their rescue gear, and simulated rescues taking place.

Training cadre members will oversee each group involved in the training, safety plans will be put in place, and weather conditions monitored carefully to ensure the safety of participants and the public.

This training should not limit public access to the stream and the trails around it.
