The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa ranked No. 65 among the best universities in the nation and No. 299 in the world, according to the 2027 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, an independent global assessment of universities, released on September 30 BST (September 29 HST). The recognition highlights UH Mānoa’s strength in teaching reputation, research quality and other key measures of excellence.

This recognition places UH’s flagship campus in the top 2.5% in the US out of approximately 2,630 4-year institutions nationwide and in the top 1.2% in the world out of more than 25,000 higher education institutions around the globe.

“UH Mānoa’s continued recognition as being one of the world’s leading universities reflects upon the extraordinary work happening across campus by our students, faculty, and staff to address the challenges that matter to Hawaiʻi, the Pacific, and beyond,” UH Mānoa Chancellor Vassilis L. Syrmos said. “This latest ranking by Times Higher Education is a true testament to the strength of our research and academic programs, and of our renewed commitment to making UH Mānoa a place where access meets excellence.”

Times Higher Education, which produces these rankings annually, is one of the leading international university rankings organizations. To qualify for these rankings, Times Higher Education first determined the top 168 U.S. universities and top 2,297 universities worldwide.
