Comic performer Tomáš Kubínek brings ‘Miracle Man’ to MACC’s Castle Theater Oct. 11

Comic performer Tomáš Kubínek will present his one-man show “Miracle Man” at 5 p.m. Oct. 11 in the Castle Theater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului, the center announced. Tickets are available at mauiarts.org.
Tickets cost $35, $45 and $55, and prices include all taxes and fees, according to the MACC. Prices increase on the day of the show. MACC members receive a 10% discount. Information on membership is available on the center’s website.
The MACC describes the show as a revival of strong-man stunts, couples counseling, snake healings and mass hypnosis. Kubínek bills himself as a “Certified Lunatic and Master of the Impossible,” according to the center.
Kubínek was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, grew up in Canada and lives in the United States, the MACC said. He has performed in more than 30 countries over the past three decades, including at venues and festivals in London, Venice, Hong Kong, Brooklyn, Singapore, Florence, Tokyo, Lyon and New York City. He has also appeared as a guest artist with symphony orchestras, according to the MACC.
His awards include the Moers Comedy Prize from the International Comedy Arts Festival in Germany, the Schneestern Award from the International Festival of Humor in Arosa, Switzerland, and the Samuel Beckett Theatre Award from the Dublin Theatre Festival in Ireland, the center said.
Kubínek also teaches master classes at universities and with professional theater companies, and he conducts outreach programs at youth detention centers and correctional facilities, the MACC said.
While on Maui, Kubínek will also perform separately for keiki as part of the MACC’s school performance series during the academic year. The center said the series reflects its 32-year commitment to arts education.
The MACC is asking audience members to bring nonperishable items for the Maui Food Bank to the show, citing its support for people affected by wildfires, hurricanes and floods. Anyone who brings food or a monetary donation will be entered in a drawing for a signed show poster and a meet-and-greet with Kubínek, according to the center.
