Kamehameha Schools Maui Class of 2030 raises more than $19,800 selling Minit Stop musubi at Maui Fair

The Kamehameha Schools Maui Class of 2030 collected more than $19,800 in gross sales from a musubi fundraiser at the Maui Fair, with Minit Stop supplying the product at a discounted rate, according to a news release.
The Kamehameha Schools Maui Parent Teacher Student ʻOhana organized the Oct. 1-4 fundraiser. Proceeds will support Papa Kō, the school’s Class of 2030, throughout its high school years, including Project Graduation, a substance-free celebration for students after graduation, the release said.
“Papa” means class. Kō is the plant the class’s kumu chose to represent their students, according to the release.
Minit Stop sold its musubi to the group at a significantly discounted fundraising rate, the release said. The company also helped Class of 2030 families with order fulfillment, communications, promotion, signage and the fundraiser banner.
Class of 2030 parents, students and volunteers handled pre-sales, food pickup, food safety, booth operations and volunteer shifts, according to the release.
“This fundraiser was truly a Class of 2030 ʻohana effort, and Minit Stop was an incredible partner in making it possible,” said Marina Sands Dunn, Class of 2030 PTSO representative. “Their generosity, flexibility and willingness to support us with everything from discounted pricing to logistics and promotion allowed our families to focus on making the fundraiser a success. We are so grateful to Minit Stop, our volunteers, students, families, and everyone in the community who purchased a musubi and supported Papa Kō.”

“What stood out to me was how Minit Stop approached this as a true community partnership,” said Jeeyun Lee, a parent and PTSO volunteer. “They didn’t simply provide us with musubi to sell. They looked for ways to help our Class of 2030 succeed, from offering a discounted fundraising rate to supporting communications, signage, logistics, and promotion. When a local business invests its time, resources, and aloha in our keiki like that, the impact goes far beyond a fundraiser. It strengthens the connections that make our Maui community so special.”
Greg Cabanting, Minit Stop’s general manager, said supporting local schools and families is part of the company’s approach. He thanked those who visited the fair to support the fundraiser.
