Wailuku man suffers fatal injuries in weekend motorcycle crash in Wailea, Maui

A 44-year-old Wailuku man suffered fatal injuries in a motorcycle crash on Wailea Alanui Drive Sunday night. The incident was reported at around 9:36 p.m. on Oct. 11, 2026 just south of Okolani Drive in Wailea.

Police say a preliminary investigation reveals that a Blue 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on Wailea Alanui Drive when the operator lost control and veered to the right, striking a curb.

As a result of this collision, the operator was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigation reveals that the operator was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Police say speed is suspected to be a factor in the crash. The involvement of drugs or alcohol has not yet been determined, as the investigation is ongoing.

This was Maui County’s 10th traffic fatality of 2026, compared to 12 at the same time last year.
