The No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs outlasted the No. 26 Clemson Tigers by one stroke in a gripping final-round to capture the 2026 Kā‘anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER on Tuesday, earning their first team title in the tournament.

The Georgia Bulldogs men’s golf team celebrates their first Kā‘anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER team title on Oct. 27, 2026 in Lahaina, HI.

Georgia finished at 23-under, edging Clemson at 22-under after the Tigers surged with an 18-under final round. No. 35 TCU finished third at 16-under. No. 22 Oklahoma placed fourth at 6-under, No. 18 Kansas came in fifth at 4-under and No. 38 Colorado finished sixth at 3-under.

Clemson’s Hampton Roberts and Georgia’s Grayson Wood shared individual medalist honors, each finishing at 11-under in the 54-hole, 125-player field.

(L-R): Georgia’s Grayson Wood and Clemson’s Hampton Roberts are crowned as co-individual champions in the 2026 Kā‘anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER on Oct. 27, 2026 in Lahaina, HI.

The individual title came down to the final two holes. On the par-3 17th, Wood found the water with his tee shot, giving Roberts an opportunity to grab the lead. Roberts nearly chipped in for birdie before making par, while Wood recovered to make bogey. The pair headed to the 18th tied.

Both players hit the green in regulation, but narrowly missed their respective birdie putts before converting their par putts to finish tied. The theatric finish gave the Bulldogs and Tigers a share of the individual crown.

Georgia’s Grayson Wood hits a towering drive on Royal Kāʻanapali’s 14th hole during the final round of the 2026 Kā‘anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER on Oct. 27, 2026 in Lahaina, HI.

Wood shines again on Maui

For Georgia senior Grayson Wood, the victory marked another milestone at Kā‘anapali. The Fredericksburg, Virginia native previously carded a career-best 7-under 64 in the third round of the 2024 tournament.

A transfer from VCU, Wood was named Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Year and Freshman of the Year in 2023-24, becoming the first player in conference history to earn both honors in the same season.

“I love this course, but hitting it in the water on 17 almost cost me everything,” recounted Wood. “Luckily, I composed myself enough to hang on for the co-title. Once the opening-round trade winds died down, the course was prime for scoring. My local knowledge from years of playing here was absolutely key to navigating these lightning-fast greens.”

Roberts extends Clemson’s Hawai‘i legacy

Roberts, a senior who transferred to Clemson after three seasons at North Carolina, opened with a 4-under 67 and closed with a 6-under 65 to finish alongside Wood at 11-under.

Clemson’s Hampton Roberts tees off on Royal Kāʻanapali’s 10th hole during the final round of the 2026 Kā‘anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER on Oct. 27, 2026 in Lahaina, HI.

Roberts has enjoyed success in Hawai‘i before, placing second after a playoff in the 2024 Amer Ari Invitational on Hawai‘i Island.

“I’ve dreamt of winning in the Aloha State since finishing second on Hawai‘i Island in 2024,” Roberts said. “This week, everything finally came together. I had my fair share of ups and downs, but was able to piece together three strong rounds. I really happy with the final result.”

Georgia coach Mookie DeMoss, a former Bulldogs player in his first season leading the program, praised his team’s effort. He took over after longtime coach Chris Haack retired.

“Different guys contributed each day. We had to pick each other up as we battled a good Clemson team,” DeMoss said. “We kept commenting on the natural beauty of this place, looking up at the mountains, then down to the course and ocean. Coupled with fun team breakfasts each morning at the local Kihei Caffe, it was a trip that we’ll never forget.”

Bulldogs and Tigers grow Maui history

Georgia and Clemson now have three individual medalists apiece in Kā‘anapali Classic history. Georgia’s champions are Zach Healy (2015), Trent Phillips (2019) and Wood (2026). Clemson’s are Doc Redman (2016), Andrew Swanson (2022) and Roberts (2026).

In 2016, freshman Doc Redman closed with a 7-under 64 to defeat LSU’s Sam Burns by two strokes. Redman went on to win the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship and earned two Korn Ferry Tour victories in 2026, helping secure his place among the players qualifying for the 2027 PGA TOUR season.

A decade after Redman’s breakthrough on Maui, Roberts became the latest Tiger to join the individual winners’ circle.

Horned Frogs, Sooners and Rainbow Warriors make their mark

The TCU Horned Frogs finished third at 16-under. Cameron Kuchar, who tied for 10th at 4-under, led the charge. Kuchar is the son of nine-time PGA TOUR winner Matt Kuchar. TCU returned four of the five players who advanced to an NCAA Regional in 2025-26.

The six-time tournament champion Oklahoma Sooners placed fourth at 6-under, led by Cayse Morgan, who finished third individually at 9-under.

Colorado’s Tyler Long added a standout moment, recording the first albatross in the program’s 102-year history. His double eagle came on the 460-yard, par-5 sixth hole.

Host Hawai‘i finished 10th at 14-over. Senior Josh Hayashida, an O‘ahu native who won the 2022 Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association boys individual state championship at Royal Kā‘anapali, led the Rainbow Warriors with a tie for 22nd.

Hawai‘i and Hawai‘i Pacific University will wrap up their fall schedules next week as co-hosts of the 18-team Pearl at Kalauao Invitational on O‘ahu.

Hawaiʻi’s Josh Hayashida dials in his wedge shot on Royal Kāʻanapali’s 13th hole during the second round of the 2026 Kāʻanapali Classic by OUTRIGGER on Oct. 26, 2026 in Lahaina, HI.

Tournament stats:

  • Scoring average: 73.23 over three rounds on the par-71 course.
  • Toughest hole: The par-3 second played as the tournament’s most difficult hole, with a 3.41 scoring average.

The 13th annual Kā‘anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER will be contested from Oct. 25-27, 2027.
