Flight of Aloha, a motion-seat flying ride, to open Dec. 1 at Whalers Village

Flight of Aloha, an indoor “flying ride” attraction, is set to open Dec. 1 at Whalers Village in Kāʻanapali, the company announced.
The attraction, on Level 3 of the shopping center at 2435 Kāʻanapali Parkway, will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Presale tickets are available online for Dec. 1 and later dates.
Guests ride in motion seats in front of a large curved screen, with wind, mist, scent and sound effects timed to four films, two set in Hawaiʻi, one on humpback whale migration and one in Europe. Each ticket includes a pre-show of about 12 to 15 minutes and a flight of about 8 to 12 minutes. The attraction is open to ages 3 and up. Children 3 and under are free.
Four films will be offered at opening: “Naupaka,” “Lāhainā,” “Europe” and “Whale Song.” The company describes “Naupaka” as a Hawaiian story of love and separation, “Lāhainā” as a tribute to the people and places of Lāhainā, “Europe” as an adventure inspired by King Kalākaua’s travels, and “Whale Song” as a baby humpback’s journey from Hawaiʻi to Alaska and back.
A single flight costs $44.99, and a two-film “Double Feature” costs $59.99. Kamaʻāina receive 20% off with a Hawaiʻi ID. Residents with a 96761 address receive 50% off a single flight. Validated parking is available for two hours in the Whalers Village garage.
The attraction is Native Hawaiian-founded, according to the company. Founder Ola Shaw and his family were displaced for more than two years after the August 2023 Lahaina wildfire before returning home, the company said in an announcement.
In a statement on its website, the company said the opening “is not our way of saying that everything is okay or that Lahaina has recovered,” and that getting displaced families back home must remain the community’s greatest priority.
The company also operates a location on Hawaiʻi Island. Information and tickets are at maui.flightofaloha.com or 1-888-482-5642.
