Alexander Academy’s The Nutcracker returns to the MACC Sat & Sun, Dec 12 – 1

Alexander Academy Performing Company continues its holiday tradition with a sixth annual production of The Nutcracker. This full-length ballet features the beloved music of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, with artistic direction by Absalon Figueroa. Costumes are created by Jennifer Oberg and the Sewing Hui of Maui, together with Alexander Academy.
This classic ballet tells the magical story of young Clara, who befriends a Nutcracker that comes to life on Christmas Eve and battles the evil Mouse King. When the Nutcracker transforms into a Prince, he takes Clara on an enchanted journey to the Land of Snow, where they are welcomed by dancing snowflakes in a magical winter wonderland. Their journey continues to the Land of Sweets, where they are greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy and a spectacular celebration of dance.
This year’s production showcases the talent and dedication of Alexander Academy’s pre-professional dancers. The 2026 cast features Ella Craft and Aleeya Cantor-Charles as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Sierra Berrigan as the Snow Queen, Madeline Dennis-Walsh as Dew Drop, Alanakai Red as the Rat King, and Sharli Rose Andrade as Clara.
The youngest members of the Academy, ages 3–6, are sure to delight audiences as angels, gingerbread, and mice.
Each year, The Nutcracker continues to grow, giving Maui dancers the opportunity to challenge themselves artistically while sharing the magic of this beloved holiday tradition with the community.
“We are thrilled to be presenting at the MACC again,” said Executive Director Danelle Watson Keenan. “There is an elegance added by being in this large theater. Our dancers are looking forward to sharing their hard work and embracing the moments onstage. This production brings me holiday cheer.”
“Performing at the Castle Theater is a gift for all of us. The Nutcracker has become a holiday tradition that audiences look forward to year after year,” said Absalon Figueroa, Artistic Director.
