Nuka, a Japanese restaurant and sushi bar, opened in Haiku in the original Haiku Mart building; the executive chef is Hiro Takanashi.

Alvin Shima, who has been principal at several Maui schools, has been selected as the Hawaii State Department of Education’s Baldwin-Kekaulike-Maui complex acting superintendent.

Duke’s Beach House recently donated over $2,000 to Autism Bridges Maui.

A $5,000 donation was made to your Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation to set up a fund to help children suffering from Type 1 Diabetes. The donation was a joint gift from the American Board for Child Diabetics and Fleetwood’s on Front Street.
