The Nā Ala Hele Trails and Access Program hosts a volunteer workday in the Makawao Forest reserve this Saturday, July 13, as part of a belated celebration of National Trails Day.

The Department of Land and Natural Resources announced the weekend excursion, noting that volunteer work will consist of digging, raking, and putting finishing touches on sections of a new trail.

According to DLNR officials the new mountain biking trail will run parallel to the existing multi-use trail for approximately two miles along the eastern leg of the Kahakapao Loop Trail.
