Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa issued a statement saying feral chickens and cats have become a significant problem in the community.

He said it’s imperative that well-researched control methods be deployed in a strategic and humane manner.  Hopes are that the discussion will lead to a workable solution, he said.

The Maui Humane Society’s Jocelyn Bouchard, and County Environmental Director Rob Parsons are among the individuals slated to participate in the discussion.
