During the work, DWS officials say customers in Kula, Makawao, Pukalani, and Hāliʻimaile are asked to conserve water.

Water customers that usually are supplied by the Kamole WTP, will get their water from the Poʻokela Well and the Piʻiholo WTP during the shutdown, said Takakura.

According to the DWS, the CIP project involves the installation of new pumps with high efficiency motors to replace old pumps that were installed in 1976. Water officials say the booster pumps are used to pump water to the Lower and Upper Kula water systems during times of drought.
