The National Weather Service issued a High Surf Advisory for the South facing shores of all islands until 6 o’clock tonight.
A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
Surf along all south facing shores of all Hawaiian Islands will be 6 to 8 feet with occasional sets of 10 feet today. Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
A high tide of approximately 2.7 feet is expected between 2:43 p.m. and 3:41 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The next high tide of approximately 1.7 feet is expected between 1:32 a.m. and 2:50 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Beachgoers are urged to stay out of the water and well away from the shore break due to the hazardous wave action and strong rip currents.
