Flood Advisory for Maui Until 4 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for the island of Maui until 4 p.m.

NWS forecasters say that at 12:56 p.m., radar showed heavy rain from Keokea to ʻUlupalakua.

The area of rain was nearly stationary and was located about 13 miles south of Kahului.

Other locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to Kula and Kīhei, the NWS said.

The National Weather Service also issued a flood advisory for the island of Molokaʻi until 3:45 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14.

At 12:47 p.m., forecasters with the NWS said radar showed heavy rain along a line extending from Kepuhi to Kaunakakai.

Forecasters say the area of rain was nearly stationary.

The public is advised to stay away from streams, drainage ditches, and low-lying areas that are prone to flooding.

Motorists and pedestrians are reminded not to cross fast flowing or rising water in their vehicles or on foot.

The NWS says, “Turn around; don’t drown.”

Earlier this afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the island of Oʻahu until 12:30 p.m. Mon, Oct. 14.

Radar at 12:04 p.m. Showed thunderstorms capable of producing quarter-size hail. The storm was located 4 miles north of Makakilo and was nearly stationary.
