Makawao Man Dies of Injuries from Tractor Roll-Over

A Makawao man has since died of injuries sustained in a tractor roll-over incident reported last week, Maui police confirmed.

The incident was reported at 10:35 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, on the man’s property in Makawao.

A police investigation revealed that while the man was operating his tractor, he drove into a ravine, causing him to fall off, with the tractor rolling over him, according to Maui Police Lt. William Juan.

The man was found to have extensive internal injuries and was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center for treatment, police said.

At around 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, police were notified that the man had died as a result of his injuries.

The victim has since been identified as Benjamin Ladd, 56, of Makawao.
