Kīhei 6th Top Trending Vacation Rental Destination in World

Kīhei, Maui is among the top trending vacation rental destinations in the world according to projections released by the vacation rental website, FlipKey.com.

The site ranked Kīhei as number six on a list of top 10 vacation rental destinations trending for 2014, based on traveler demand and booking requests to date.

This is the second consecutive appearance for Kīhei on the list, which dropped one slot from 5th in 2013.

Also on the 2014 list was Honolulu, which was ranked 8th.

Leading the 2014 list was Rio De Janeiro Brazil, followed by four Florida destinations — Miami Beach, Orlando, Naples, and Key West. The strong Brazil ranking was attributed to bookings received for the highly anticipated World Cup event taking place next year.

Rounding out the top ten were 7th ranked Panama City Beach in Florida, 9th ranked Playa del Carmen in Mexico, and 10th ranked Seminyak in Bali.

Eric Horndahl, vice president of marketing at FlipKey attributed the Bali ranking to the growing popularity of South East Asia as a destination for travelers.

Overall, company executives say, “this year’s list demonstrates that warm-weather beach destinations are where travelers are going for next year’s vacation,” according to a company press release.
