Foodie Tour Offers Excursions for Locals, Visitors
By Maui Now Staff
Hawaii Tasting Tours allows attendees to experience four or five of Lahaina’s (and soon Wailea’s) best restaurants all in one night.
Their guided walking tour features a signature tasting plate and beverage as well as a 20% gratuity for all servers.
Things get started at Fleetwoods on Front Street where you can anticipate a shrimp cocktail shooter, wild mushroom ravioli and hummus served with a 2010 Butternut Chardonnay from Monterey, California.
Then, mosey over to the Lahaina Fish Co. and enjoy the fresh catch of the day grilled with a macadamia nut crust, Molokai sweet potatoes and award winning slowly roasted certified angus prime rib with your mai tai.
At Betty’s Beach Café, attendees can look forward to a Kalua pork quesadilla with grilled pineapple salsa or fresh fish ceviche paired with Betty’s Signature Mojitos or a local Kona or Maui Brew.
At Kobe Maui and Oku’s Sushi bar indulge in the teppan shrimp appetizer, chicken or beef teppanyaki served with hibachi vegetable and steamed rice paired with futsu-shu hot or cold sake.
In addition, each tour has at least one wild card surprise stop, which organizers note is typically a dessert of some sort.
The tours are offered regularly and there is one tomorrow, December 19 from 5 to 9:30 p.m.
Organizers noted that Sherry Duong of the Maui Visitors Bureau will be there along with Lisa Paulsen with House of Travels who has come all the way from New Zealand to celebrate her mother Jenny Sherman’s 60th Birthday.
Should you join them tomorrow, be sure to wish her a Hau’oli la hanau.
Tickets are $169 plus tax.
