The largest solar farm in the state will be dedicated tomorrow on the island of Lanai.  The 1.5 megawatt photovoltaic facility is located on 10 acres in the Palawai Basin.  It will generate 3,000 megawatts of electricity, supplying 10 percent of Lanai’s electrical power annually and 30 percent of peak-power use.  The project is in line with the Lingle Administration’s Clean Energy Initiative, which aims to have 70 percent of Hawaii’s energy come from clean, renewable sources by 2030.

The dedication will be held Tuesday, January 6, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
