The second segment of Na Kamehameha Commemorative Pa’u Parade & Ho’olaule’a featured Pa’u Princess Koaniani Wilson representing the island of Kaua’i and Pa’u Princess Noe Keawe Aiko representing the island of Ni’ihau.
[flashvideo file=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKXN5ZoGBlA /] An elaborate float from the Lahaina Restoration Foundation featured a replica of the 1860 Pioneer Mill Smokestack. The landmark is the tallest free-standing structure in West Maui and is one of the many projects that is protected by the foundation to preserve the history and culture of Lahaina. The float entitled “All Under One Roof” also depicted the Hale Pa’i printing press, built in 1837 on the grounds of the Lahianaluna campus.
