Main Street in Wailuku will be closed tonight between High Street and North Church Street for repairs to a leaking waterline, water officials announced.

The repairs are set to start at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, and conclude by 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014.

Water service may be affected for customers between the Wailuku McDonald’s and the Maui Medical Group between 10:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m., according to department officials.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes around the work site.

The Maui Department of Water Supply says affected water customers may want to flush their waterlines for a short time on Thursday morning to ensure that no sediment has accumulated during the project.
