“Increased travel demand” from Southern California has prompted Hawaiian Airlines to add another flight to Maui, the airline said.

The addition means there are now two direct flights from LA to Kahului, but the second will only operate from Nov. 20, 2014 to Jan. 12, 2015.

The new flight will add 20,000 seats to the LA and Maui travel markets, the airline claims.

In total there will be four trips extra per week, Friday through Monday, except for a period during Nov. 20-30, when flights will be daily.

Flights to Kahului from LA leave at 1:30 p.m. Flights to LA from Kahului leave at 10 p.m.

Hawaiian Airlines currently operates daily year-round non-stop service between Los Angeles and Kahului, which it launched Jan. 6, 2014. That outgoing flight to LA leaves at 3:40 p.m., and the flight leaving LA to Kahului leaves at 11:15 a.m.

Thrice daily service is also currently offered between Los Angeles and Honolulu. Beginning Dec. 5, a fourth flight will be added that will range from three- to five-times weekly service throughout the month of December. 8,400 seats will be added to both Los Angeles and O’ahu travel markets over four weeks of service, the airline claims.

Both seasonal flight additions will be operated by twin-aisle Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, seating 264 passengers in a two-class cabin, with 18 in Business Class and 246 in the main cabin. Hawaiian Airlines’ B767 amenities include “increased legroom and roomy interior, along with iPad minis available for rent featuring more than 100 hours of the latest Hollywood releases, television shows, and a variety of interactive games.”
